The Cateye wireless worked well for me until I put a Niterider light on the bars. Interference stopped the unit from working.

I realize this doesn't fit your "move between bikes" criterion, but in case you just want to start with a pretty good old-fashioned cheap Specialized computer (wired to a magnet on the front wheel) you're welcome to this one, just for the cost of shipping:

check out Cateye Micro wireless ones...simple, cheap, do everything you prolly want and can be bounced from bike to bike easily...

I've got an old-school specialized turbo elite (computer, mount, wireless sensor, magnet) that's been in my parts bin several years...it worked when it went into the ziplock bag, but now the batteries are dead and I don't have any of those type around. You're welcome to it.

I like the GPS computers because they get rid of stuff on the fork and spokes. I use the most basic Garmin….which I believe has been discontinued.....and another even better one replaced it. Charge it after every ride. Use the American GPS and the Russian Glasnost system....which uses a little extra battery power. Have mounts for the 3 bikes I ride.

the system is called GLONASS, so that is a very funny typo! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks for the correction. I only basically knew it started with a G, and that it competed with our GPS system. The instructions that came with my basic Garmin (Believe a 20) said it improved accuracy to turn on that feature....at the expense of battery life. One feature I really like about my basic unit is the very large numbers and letters. Much larger than the wireless unit I used before.

I've always liked the Topeak Panoram V-12 wireless.

I use the Garmin Edge 25 as my primary computer.
I don't have to rely on my phone, it's the size of a watch, and it can handle additional duties if called upon to do so. I can use it with or without cadence sensor, heart monitor, etc... I can even download a route and use it for navigation. I can't see Strava segments or anything like that on it, but that's not really my thing. For touring, endurance rides, and bikepacking, I use a Garmin hiking GPS. It takes alkaline and recyclable AA batteries and lasts about 4 days on a charge. |
