Whatever happened to that Paceline Bike?

I know a number of people have looked for particular bikes on the Forum over the years. So, I thought I'd start a thread detailing some of those quixotic quests.

Here's mine. This Alliance road race frame. Originally owned by Clean39T. (go figure!) Last I checked, the previous owner was unsure of its whereabouts. If anyone knows, gimme a holler.

That is a beautiful bike - so elegant!

I would love to see a matrix of bikes that have been passed around here - say, a minimum of 3 Paceline owners to qualify.

There was a S+S Kirk for sale here maybe two years ago - I chatted with the owner about it via FaceTime (that was fun) during Covid , but held off due to buying a custom gravel bike.

I still think about it, but I bet it was sold - it was a stunner and would’ve fit beautifully…

A matrix or one of those “origin trees” like they do for various coaches who wind up creating generations of coaches. Clean’s tree would be substantial, but there are others over the years as well, some no longer with us (RIP Jack Brunk, for one)

I don't know what happened to that Alliance (by Erik Rolf) but I have its twin, which will soon have a steel fork from Paul Sadoff. For what it's worth, it is a super smooth and comfortable ride, equal to my Kirk JKS.

Well, here's one to add to the matrix. Good timing since I haven't made the time to post in the gallery yet. I don't know about the full chain of custody but I know this Speedvagen CX went from madvillain to huck*this to Hilltopperny and now to me. In a field of jacaranda flowers …

Lots of blanks to fill in as far as the names to/from (my memory isn't the best after a four-day weekend) - but I think those are all of the custom bikes that I've either bought here or sold here, and that I've put at least a few rides on along the way.. I can't say there was a single dud in the whole lot of them - some fit better than others of course. All were pretty incredible though for one reason or another. And most I would welcome back (the ones that fit at least) if they were to be offered and I had the space/funds to reabsorb.

Here's one - fillet brazed and built for me way back around 2013 by Rich Adams in Wilkes-Barre, PA. I sold it here with a Jeff Lyon steel fork. I cannot even remember to whom I sold it. I have thought about it recently, but not sure how many paceliners it has served - at least two.

Two for me

I'll play.

One is a blast from the past - Jack Brunk's olive Vanilla road bike. There are better pics out there but this one was easy to find.

Even though I'm too small, I coveted Clean39T's first Coors Light team bike. Was trying to convince myself I could make it work when another bought it. Keep waiting it for to pop up again.

My Firefly was Sparky33 -> hilltopperny -> me

No plans to sell anytime soon, though.

Had a Peg and Ellis that definitely passed through multiple paceliner’s hands. Part of the charm of this place, in my opinion.

Yes, I sold my Speedvagen to someone in Colorado last year - I don’t think he’s on the PL. never to be seen again.

Weisan, that Spectrum is the bomb!
