Shimano hydraulic disc brake caliper switch out

I can't stand the Sram Force 1 drivetrain on my AirLandSea and the Shimano GRX looks like a potential replacement but for the direct mount brakes (frame is I.S. standard and but for an unknown third party I haven't found any other adapters but see- https://www.assolutions.ca/product-category/adapters/).

Seems like you should be able to swap out the grx direct mount caliper for an XT post mount -- am I missing something? Anyone tried something similar?

This was really common for earlier iterations of Dura Ace and Ultegra. I don't see why GRX wouldn't be compatible.

Another solution could be the Hope RX4 calipers.

You could also search for earlier Shimano BR-RS785 caliper because they don't require a banjo fitting at the caliper like the XT and XTR calipers do. Nothing wrong with the banjo, but just requires a different hydraulic line than the GRX would come with. Just something to keep in mind when acquiring parts.
