Or just rotate the bars until the shifters are level. Not like it'll ruin the aesthetics or anything.

Sorry pals, the shifters had to stay where they are. My hands feel most natural and relaxed at this position, it delivers maximum comfort and optimal wattage, and besides it's not as extreme as some of you made it out to be. For the newer Shimano shifters, it's about right.
Anyway, it's my bika, I do what I want, case closed.

R3 pal, you are on to something. My first choice would be a silver post as well but the Colnago uses a rare 28.0 diameter. So it's either i use the nice carbon 28.0 post that Rob pal sent me along with the bike or I go source for a 27.2 shim. For the sake of time, I chose the former.

Tex pal, it's not that I don't like the 585, it just doesn't do anything for my mojo. I am still a metal bike kinda guy at heart. Now, THIS! This is something else. As I looked over the Colnago frame last night before I started building it up, I was shocked to see the intricate details and the paint that went into this 15-yr-old bike. It was way ahead of its times, still is today in many respects.

After a few used ill-fitting road bikes in my early days (Motobecane, Olmo, Kestrel) I drove my Kestrel into my garage while still on the roof rack and the homeowners insurance covered full replacement which netted me a new 2001/2002 Rabobank C40 with Record and Neutrons. I rode that thing across Iowa in RAGBRAI and all over until it was stolen! Always had a weakness for the Colnagos since and that's why I am selling my C50 for my C40 project (plus it's very similar to my C59).

If you want to go truly authentic I have a D/A 7700 and 7400 group you could put on this one...

Rob pal, thank you again for making my dream come true. I owe you a debt of gratitude.

Thanks for the offer, I am good with Tiagra. I take a perverted pleasure in turning up the screw and making people riding on expensive bikes and gruppo suffer in the paceline.

A little more weight can make a model even more beautiful.

That looks like it is fun to ride.

nago!
