Yet another Bottom Bracket Question: Giant Advanced Pro 0 ->BB30 Crank
Hi there, looking for some Paceline wisdom.
I'm looking at this bike, Giant TCR Advanced Pro 0, and want to move my SRAM Force BB30 crankset/Power meter over to it. The Force CX1 BB30 crankset that I have is the long spindle BB30, unlike the Red BB30 spindles. Stock details say:86mm wide BB design, comes with Shimano Pressfit installed. What bottom bracket do I need? maybe this? http://www.velotechservices.co.uk/sh...cat=7410001938 Bike Link: https://www.giant-bicycles.com/ca/tc...ced-pro-0-2016 Stock Pic with Shimano: Last edited by kppolich; 11-16-2018 at 12:44 PM. |

Need something like this:
https://wheelsmfg.com/bottom-bracket...m-bracket.html or this: https://shop.fullspeedahead.com/en/t...shimano-pfbb86 Neither are a the best option, but if you want to keep your crank then it looks like they'll have to do. |

btw, not sure about if the FSA one would work. Their standardards, while nominally for 30 mm or 24 mm, have different tolerances. The other link you provided is indeed a Rotor product. They have great customer service, and you should give them a call (located in Utah) to confirm. I was considering purchasing their 2.Inpower powermeter for a bike, and they ended up dissuading me from purchasing it. Phone number is 801 393 4822 |

Hambini adapters are probably the best
maybe one of these will work https://www.hambini.com/bike-parts.html |

The second pic in the FSA link clearly shows that the BB is made for adapting a BB86 bottom bracket to the BB386 crank standard, which the Force 1x cranks are equivalent to. Whether it will work WELL is a different matter entirely, as FSA is schizophrenic when it comes to design and quality control. The bigger issue for the FSA solution though would be the two rows of smaller balls. Hambini adapters are indeed nice, but there's no option for fitting a 30mm diameter spindle in a BB86 shell. |

Ugh, threaded BB's were a much simpler time. Perhaps grabbing a GXP crank and GXP BB would be cheaper and better.

oh, and just you wait, these damn pressfits wheeze and squeak more often than threaded BBs do...
though that said, Rotor and Wheel Manufacturing make good products. If you haven't dealt with pressfits before, make sure that everything actually fit snugly. One of my bikes require the usage of an expansion compound so that the BB won't move inside the BB shell... |

You can just swap arms and keep the spider if you want. Though GXP arms are a bit harder to find than 30mm.

something like this https://www.hambini.com/bike-parts/p...m-bracket.html "This bottom bracket is designed to interface a Crankset with an EXTENDED BB30 (30mm diameter x ~90-92mm long) axle with a bike frame that uses a PF30 Shell (46mm diameter X 68mm width). It will not work with any short length BB30 axles or any 86.5mm long axles." This is giving me flashbacks to trying to buy replacement bearings for my pf30 bb. ...ugh |
