Forecasters in Boston and RI are hearing trends are for a nasty, cold/snow winter.

Glad I work from home, just need to ensure my sump pump keeps working...

Yeah, and most are on tires that are 20000 miles older since last winter, with that much less tread.

Ridiculous start to the ski season. Best in many years. Below freezing temps for days ahead in Vermont. The guns will be a blowin'. My season pass at Stowe will be put to good use.

I am hopefully flying back from CA today and my car is sitting at EWR on summer tires. I am praying the roads will be clear or I am going to have to Uber home.

You're cool, unless you live with a steep driveway.

Yeah, you're good. Roads are clear again after a morning sleeting (on my way to work -- where once I arrived, I got a text that we're opening two hours later....

Here, not only was snow very wet and slippery, but there were still lots of rain-wet leaves on the road when the snow fell...making two layers of slippery stuff.

I hadn't finished clearing the leaves from my yard and driveway yet either. So shoveling my driveway this morning meant shoveling snow and leaves. Crazy.

But more globally, I do think the way SUVs are marketed creates a false sense of security. People drive like AWD aids steering and braking too. Every storm out on the roads, the fastest drivers are always driving SUVs.

ah, I put my winter wheels/tires last week. I had a good feeling it was going to snow. I am also coming back from vacation and glad the summers are not on the car anymore. Its going to be 30 degrees upstate new york for the next week it seems.

I live at 123rd street and Broadway with a ringside seat to the show. 2 city buses jackknifed, trucks and taxis can't climb the hills. Total gridlock for hours. People started driving on the sidewalks. Then they got stuck. Then the yelling started. Then the fistfights broke out.
Just sitting here in my window sipping some wine watching the action. Very entertaining.

hey, that's my old neighborhood

heard that there was a lot of commotion on Amsterdam Ave due to the jackknifed buses...

you'd expect New Yorkers (more likely Jerseyites) to pull stunts like driving on the sidewalk. sigh

The night before an UBER driver nearly killed me in the crosswalk in front of my building coming so close to me that I punched the side of his car. Naturally he gets out and starts cursing me. Plenty of time for that.
Let it snow. I hope they're stuck in snow hell all winter.

We've had a couple of 2" snows here and state highways were salted both times - much to my disgust (waste of money/hard on vehicles/unnecessary).

6" of snow isn't that much by NE standards. Wondering why it's caused so much trouble.
