Any problems with 2" to 1.25" hitch adapters?
Hi, I have a 2" hitch and the second hand rack I'm eyeing is a 1.25". Are there any problems with swaying or wobbling when using a hitch adapter? Thanks!

my bike rack is the only thing i've had much experience with in terms of hitches and from what i can see rattles and wobbles are just part of the deal. you can go a long way to mitigating it tho with the right reducer and it's not that big a deal when driving.

You can get an anti-rattle hitch pin that will tighten things up.

OT, but the Kuat NV 2.0 that I've got on my 2" hitch has an expander to prevent rattling. It feels like an extension of my rear bumper.

I run one, no issues. I get more sway from the 2" side.

Re:
I use a hitch tightener on my Kuat... had to trim the adapter to get it to fit.

To much sway for me when I used one in the past. Kuat NV 2" with the stock tightener works like a charm. No sway whatsoever.
I would skip it, personally. Especially if you're ever going to put more than 2 bikes on there. |
