Aluminatti

In early September I unfortunately broke a couple of bones in my foot and was trapped at home in pain for weeks, the use of a knee rover inflamed my knee to add insult to injury.
Being the bike junkie I am I spent hours surfing the used bike market and bought 2 rigs, that I am really impressed with. The Trek I was able to view before purchase , the State was shipped - both in great shape but the State was virtually new.

Just started riding again about 10 days ago. Only a couple of short rides on the State Undefeated 7005, a few rides on the 2020 Emonda ALR5 disc including one 30 plus miler with 2100 feet of climbing.

Both bikes are terrific so far. Incredibly smooth and responsive. The paint work on both frames is fantastic. Ridiculous that the State has no water bottle cage mount. I know aftermarket adaptors are available - but if anyone has any recommendations that would be appreciated.

The ALR is very different than my last aluminum road bike a CAAD 12 - but to me the ALR is much more preferable in pretty much every way for the way I ride (aka not fast)- but it is shockingly comfortable for any bike not just an aluminum one. The hydroforming of aluminum is amazing.

Love the Emonda ALR, it's definitely a great bike. I had 2 - a first gen with Ultegra, then a 2019 purple flip with rim brake 105 like yours.

Like you said surprisingly comfy for aluminum but still snappy and great as a race bike. A teammate and I both built up the purple ALRs as race bikes, and he switched to a CAAD13 the next season and was in shock as to how much worse it was to take for long rides that he kept the ALR.

I had a Trek Crockett (stolen) that was basically the ALR as a cyclocross frame. That bike with 105 was fantastic. I'm sure the road version is too.
