No22 Great Divide

New(ish) bike day #1 of the year for me, I figured since it was a production 54 it belongs here..

So I picked this one up off of Hilltopperny back in early 2020 right before COVID became a thing with a frozen seat post, intending to build it up with a Force kit and some Mavics that were on my Emonda ALR as a winter/miles bike. Between Covid, getting hit by a car, not being able to pull the post, and my wedding, this sat for almost 2 years until this winter.

I finally got around to thinking I should build it up after chatting with Justin @ Black Oak Velo here in Greenwich who said he could get the post out no problem (he did, just took some heat and a new shim to epoxy inside the frame from No22). Was going to send this down to Florida, but plans changed and I now need to decide where this one is going to live between now and July: Vero, Nashville, or swap groups back with the Bedford and become my travel bike.

Ride is sublime, and a perfect counterpoint to my Reactor. The guys at 22 mean it when they call it a 9/10ths race bike. That last 1/10th went into comfort, this thing just floats along and you don't realize how fast you're going. It's a GT car compared to my other more sports car bikes.

Build is:
No22 Great Divide Frameset ~2015, early Johnstown NY build w/ Enve fork
Red 22 groupset - 50/34 crank, 11-28 Force cassette
Deda 35 Bar and Stem w/ Silca tape
Bontrager XXX Post
HED Ardennes RA Pro w/ Zipp Tangente Speed 28 tires (measure 30mm)
Arundel Cages

Only planned changes are dropping the bars 15mm to match my Bedford & Reactor (this was a test fit for my all road Mosaic with a touch taller all-day position) and a Deda post which doesn't seem to exist right now

Really nice! Dig the water bottles! All these rave reviews make me happy to be in the “No. 22 Club.”

First new bike I've seen in a long time that I really like!

Great frame and build. Love the almost horizontal top tube. Hope it rides as nice as it looks.

Nothing beats a freshly dressed Ti bike. A breath of fresh air not to see Ano all over the place. Well done!

Thanks all! It's a really fun bike to ride, just flows along the road under power.

I do really love what 22 does to finish their frames with such a simple and classy look. Riding this has me thinking about sending this back at some point for a refinish to high polish "graphics" and painting the fork, stem, and post... but for now I'm just enjoying the ride and debating where I leave it.

Looks great! I am glad to see this one back on the road! It was one of my favorite rim brake road bikes to date!

Looks really good! I really want to try a No22 for myself!

Thanks for the link to your other No22, that carbon seatpost looks sexy af! If it were me, deciding which one to ride on any given day would be like Sophie’s choice!

Thanks all! It's been a really fun bike to just knock away miles on lately, and definitely feel the sentiment to want to try them all from No22, even if I did go a different route for the Ti bike I have coming this Spring...

Got in my first road race in a while on this one and it worked out great, carrying me to a midpack finish which was exactly what I was looking for. It's beyond smooth, and just flows so nicely under power. It doesn't have the same explosive burst as my Reactor or the spring of my steel Fabrica or Bedford, but the speed just comes and stays there.

It also makes some great apartment decor for when it has to stay in NYC until next week's racing..

Here's a bad shot from this morning. This bike is just so smooth and descends so nicely. Not quite the snap of my Reactor, but it's great for knocking out steady miles.

Excellent. Mine is currently my most grabbed for road bike these days. Love everything about it.
