Like Gravelking 32c but…?
I’m a sucker for what works…which usually means that I use the same things over and over.
I have been moving my Gravelking 32c smooth between wheelsets - because they just seem work (running these with tubes BTW). But as these begin to wear down, what are my options you think? Roads - mainly paved but with some gravel (25%) - rougher than MUT for sure - think mountain/rural “roads” Terrain - very hilly - so anvils not desired Weight - I’m usually <145lb typically Riding style - With caution…the last time I did off-piste on my loops I was running 700x26 with rim brakes and was picking my way around stuff Wondering what is common vernacular these days for 700x32 (or 33+…these will go on a recently acquired Cervelo Caledonia) that could have a more lively ride than the GK, has some durability, can handle paved roads ok with squirm/buzz etc. You know - “Goldilocks”. If the answer is “GK just works” - great…I figure other folks know more than I do on what is available these days which will inform my replacement strategy as these hit the wall. Thank you M_B |

I have similar roads and like the GK SS for that kind of riding. Have them in 35 and 38. Like the traditional GK in 32 on some bikes as well. They are hard to beat for an all arounder with less than perfect road surfaces.

Grand Bois Cypres, sold as 30s but measure 32-34 depending on rim. Think RH Stampede Pass at 1/2 - 2/3 the price.

I would give the new 32c Veloflexes a shot. Ride on the narrower siblings is magical, though I ride them tubeless.

If you want the absolute best tires you have ever used that will make you think the gravel kings are hot, slow garbage, get a pair of these.
If you respect your wallet and would rather live in blissful ignorance of the best tires in the world, don't dare try them and just get another set of GKs.

I've really been enjoying the ride feel of the Veloflex Corsa EVO TLR in 32mm.

Given the reports of the fragility of Corsa Pro's on pavement, I don't see how they'd hold up to a 25% gravel diet.
My choice would be Challenge Strada Bianca TLR in 36mm. |

GK slicks and semi slicks are awesome. I use them on several bikes, for road and gravel. Fast, durable, grippy, crazy light, and half the price of other tires that perform, for better or worse, within like a 3% parameter. Keep running them, I say.

I've never punctured a Vittoria but maybe that's an anomaly. Still, I don't ride the finest of tarmac so I think they stand up. And I will third Mad Scientist's statement - best tires I've ridden hands down.

GP5000 comes in clincher 700x32 and I run them on my Bob Jackson. I like GK slicks in 650Bx38 and 42 but for good rolling durable tires the Contis are great.

My main road bike has had 32mm GK Slick tires on it for 3 years now. Keep buying them because they have been a great mix of cost, speed, and durability.
I did recently buy some Conti GP5000 22mm tires for the bike though. Measurably faster rolling and since 95% of riding for that bike is on pavement, I'm not concerned about fragility. At your weight though, I would thing 32mm GP5000 tires would be fine for nice hard pack gravel and hard pack dirt. |

Rene Herse, Specialized roubaix, or a cheaper option Panaracer Paselas. I've also been riding a pair of 32mm fairweather tires from Blue Lug (similar to gravelkings) and really like them.
