Dura Ace 9100 max cassette sprocket size?

So i'm building up a Serotta HSG and considering using a Dura Ace 9100 mechanical drivetrain. Shimano recommends the largest cassette sprocket at 30 teeth. Usually you can exceed that by a tooth or 2 by running in the B adjustment screw. Just wondering if anyone has already tried this and what your results were? Thanks Jack

I'm currently using an Ultegra 11-32 cassette w my DA 9100 RD on my Kirk. The B tension is maybe 1/2 way in. On that frame I could probably go to 34 in the back and still be fine. Ymmv.

Thanks Clean39T, I was hoping to squeeze a 32 in there.

Really depends on your frame and wheels - minute differences matter - but you'll be able to tell by trying, just take your time and be careful when testing.

I run the Ultegra 11-34, modified to a 12-34, with 9100 shifters and RD on my Firefly. Works fine without funky B screw setting.

What's the limiting factor when trying to go 34?

Thx

Tried it over a year ago so I don't recall exactly but I do recall that the length of the cage was such that the chain was really droopy in some combos. And just general noise and lack of comfort. I picked up an Ultegra Rd and ran an 11-34 on an Alps trip with perfect function.

Agreed. I don't think the swing of the derailleur is quite right when paired with a 34, but not sure. If I was needing a 34, I'd just get an Ultegra RD.
