Holy COW... little adjustments here and there can... OMG!!!
i can't tell you the simple adjustments i've just made to my road bike setups, and the MASSIVE change its made in comfort and performance.
simple things like 10mm of stem length/angle, repositioning shift levers on the drops, saddle rail fore-aft placement... its been a revelation at the very least. if you think your bike doesn't fit you properly, or even if you DO think your bike fits you properly... because that's what i thought for a REALLY loooong time. try readjusting placement of contact points on your bike it turned a ho-hum-drum 2016 De Rosa Protos, into a rocket. and it woke up my Look 585 like a 5-alarm fire siren. my Ritchey Swiss Cross now fits like a custom-tailored Taiwanese suit, and it, as well woke up to the smell of roses. take it for what it is. hope it helps Last edited by Kingson; 11-10-2022 at 12:22 AM. |

I’m with you on this. I shortened my stem and lowered it ever so slightly. I changed my cleat position. Lastly, I went with a different saddle. All three of those changes made a huge difference in comfort and fit.
I hadn’t made any changes in years before this. Part of it is age. I am 61 and had been riding in essentially the same position for years. I bought an Open U.P. That was set up slightly different from my normal road racing bike. Riding the Open is what started me down the path of making the adjustments noted above. I am glad I did. |

Adjust all you want to. Eventually I grow comfortable to how my bike is adjusted as long as I ride often enough. If I park the bike for a few months over the winter I notice that everything feels off, but I get used to it again.

Cost?
I've been thinking about this for a long time, but haven't got a fitting yet.
What is an appropriate cost for a bike fitting and how do you judge qualifications of a fitter before the fitting? |
