Ah bummer. Hope you can figure that out!

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I consider the GURU fit bicycle a great tool but not always applicable or needed. Much like Retul, it can be super helpful, but a distraction at times. I find the key is understanding each client first, then plotting the next steps.

Did you end up finding someone who fixed your issue? I almost used the Bike Lane in Reston last summer (near the Lake Fairfax mountain bike trails) to have an old Serotta fitted... but never pulled the trigger.

The Bike Lane (Reston, VA) is my LBS. The fitter (Bill) has been at it a while and I haven't heard any complaints and would recommend for general fit needs.

For somebody who's looking for a more in-depth fit, solve problems, and resolve injuries, I'd point them to Dr Kur Sohn (owner of VeloFit in Herndon VA). He offers a full set of PT, fit, personal training, diet, etc. I know a few pros use him (Joe Dombrowski and a few others), as do quite a few of the local fast guys/gals (including some of the guys from the Miller School team down near Charlottesville).

How about for us slow fat guys? I've had 3 bike fits locally (Smiley, Clovis @ Green Lizard, and Laurie @ Proteus) and still can't get comfortable on ANY bike.

Do you have any idea why you aren't comfortable? All on the same bike? Saddle changes? Did any of the 3 fits result in changes to the bike?

I'd say go see Kur, but don't want you to chunk $300-$400 in the fire either. He'll do a basic for $200, but since you've tried several already, I guess the next step is either of the more detailed fits ($300-$400). And I didn't mean to imply he's focused on fast racers - he does plenty of fits for recreational riders as well. You could always call and ask what he suggests.

I've had Smiley fit me on several bikes over the years. Very pleased with him!

Matt (District Cycle Works) is a great guy too, did my cleat fittings (he's closer to me than Smiley). Can't imagine you'd go wrong with either of them ...

I NEVER post on Forums about my business or hype myself but since i was an old moderator of this Serotta Forum which morphed into the Paceline Forum I got to say that anybody doing bike fits that does not have saddles in inventory to do fitting aint doing fits right so that was posted and its un-true I carry a very expensive inventory of fitting saddles. So for the person that said its my way of the highway I have no clue what that comment meant but at days end I stand behind my work and if anyone wants to come in and tell me or probably any fitter how to fit you to your bike its probably not going to be a good formula for a good outcome. Yeah I had a few of those types over my 23 years plus of doing this and yes i told them we are not a good match and we walked away no harm no foul.

Please be safe out there and I will just let my testimonials do my advertising. Smiley doing bike fits since my days as the area Serotta rep in mid 1990's and continue to this date and beyond. This does not even come close to the number of custom Serotta's I fit designed and over 100 custom Bedfords to date adding to my resume. I have also fitted clients for FireFly's, #22, Kirk Frameworks, Bread Winner, and many more.

OP weighing back in. As noted above, I had Smiley help me with the dimensions for a custom Pursuit I’d ordered and the bike came in perfect!
