Cycling gloves recommendations

So what cycling gloves are good for long distances?
Something not too padded, comfortable and long lasting I assume. So far I've tried specialized, pearl Izumi and Assos and they are either not too comfortable (PI) or have too much padding (the other two).

I really like Castelli mits. I've worn them for 6 and 12 hour events in comfort. If there is comfort after hour 7 or so...

I had similar issues and landed on not wearing gloves.

Not too padded - check
Comfortable - check
Long lasting - check

I sympathize with this point, but I would like a barrier against weather, accidents
and my own sweat

Yeah, picking rocks out of my palms is something I decided I could live without, but everyone can choose.

Serfas

Not really a boutique brand but I’ve been quite happy with these Serfas gloves in both long and short finger versions. Haven’t used on a ride over 70 miles yet but I plan to use them on an upcoming brevet. They come in a roomy xxl size which is great since I hate tight gloves. Don’t know how long they will last.

I’ve never had this issue. Arms and legs, but not palms.

I'm on the other end of scale, due to loss of fat/arthritis/surgery need some well padded mats. Prefer a good quality leather. Willing to pay if something perfect.

I like fox ranger gel full finger gloves.

Just enough padding, full finger keeps everything in place do no bunching, not too hot in summer.

The current versions seem beefier than my older pairs.

I just got these Handske gloves and I’m impressed. They’re made with stretchy material across the back with micro fiber wipers on the thumb. No padding and no hook and loop closure. I did a 5 hour ride in them last Saturday and hardly noticed them.
