Cross Mountain Crusher - Catskills Mountains gravel ride
Local event to me and did this last year and it was such a good time. Really nice hard ride, a good mix of gravel and pavement. Weather will either be epic or epic (last year it was dry, then rain, then snow but we might have a summer sunny day this year). The ride is 55 miles with about 5500k of vertical which is the perfect amount for so early in the season.
You did not make it into the farmers daughters? come ride the crusher (I am going to the farmers daughters too but I actually think this is a better ride ) Website - https://crossmountaincrusher.com/ Registration Page - https://www.bikereg.com/Confirmed/43448 Little video from last year - https://www.instagram.com/p/BwxYvC7FsbD/ |

I'll probably do this one again. Good practice for and some shared roads with the C2B2.

A bit of a hike for me but enticing. We camped in the Catskills two summers ago and did day rides. Nice nice terrain and roads. As I recall we did all paved though.

Yeah, not as much grave in the catskills as I wish there was. This ride starts in Arkville, it has at least 50% gravel roads I would say, most of those are climbs if I remember correctly.

Road tires or something like a gravel king? This looks fun!

I think this could be done on 28s but I think a 32 would be better suited. Its never crazy gravel. There are some sections of cross mountain that are pretty steep so a tire with more volume and some thread will help you not spin out (I had my rene herse 48mm knobbies and they were great, i did see some people get up and spin out a few times).
Come through, its a great time. |

Probably do this again, last year was something getting pelted with sleet, snow and then rain. That first climb is tough.

I am going to try and get myself in shape to do this in April. Haven’t really ridden much over a 30 miler in the past few months and this looks like a good challenge for April.

Hell yah. I think Nick might be doing it too. Its really not that bad but being so early in the season it feels harder than it should. I mean, the first part does have a 20%er

yeah, after the first its smooth sailing with a nice flatish last few miles. Also its not a 1000s of people ride so its very chill and the beer was so good at the end
