Question on installing new 1 1/8 to 1 1/4 fork
I have a parlee Z5 that needs a new fork. The current fork is a enve 2.0 but I am pretty sure it has a built in crown race. This is cool and all but not only it is hard to find 1.25 forks but impossible to find them like this (this was maybe custom to parlee?).
So I am after a new fork. I have found that moots has a fork that might fit the bill and has same rake and its on sale for an ok price so I am thinking about jumping on it. My thing is, can I just put a regular crown race on that fork and it should work the same? I need to find a crown race for the bearings that are on the bike (cane creek) but if I do find one for a 1 1/4 fork, will it just work all the same as the current fork? |

This can probably work, but might need a little tinkering. I had trouble going in the opposite direction, trying to make a fork with integrated crown race work with a regular external cup headset. I needed to shorten the headset cup by a few mm so it wouldn't scrape the fork. Otherwise it's fine. You may run into similar issues, but I wouldn't be afraid to give it a try.

My Z5 had an Enve 2.0 fork with a normal raceless crown. I swapped it for a different Enve that was a 1.0 from a Z Zero. You shouldn’t have any issues using a regular Enve.

Thats good to know. I might try to source an enve but the moots is such a good deal. Should be the same though. Also have to find a crown race that works, for 1 1/4 looks like its a rare thing

Should be the standard integrated.
