Love BTD! Except their return policy…

Bought a set of gloves a week or so ago that are simply too small.

$35 gloves. BTD charges $8.95 to send me a shipping label for return. Ouch!

Compare that to the return policy at Competitive Cyclist or any number of other vendors and it’s not good.

I won’t be buying clothing items from BTD in the future because of this - gloves, helmets, shoes, jerseys, etc - anything that could possibly be a wrong size.

To counter, when I was looking at helmets I bought 4 of them from BTD and returned for free since they have free exchange for a different model/size.

A couple of years ago, I bought a carbon wheelset from BTD. I was new to thru-axle wheels and tubeless, and didn't notice until I had set up the rear wheel that they had sent me the wrong axle size for the front. This was about 2 months after I had first received the wheels.

It wasn't clear whether the error was on BTD or on the manufacturer for putting the wrong contents label on the box of wheels. But here's the thing. An expensive set of wheels, and BTD did not make me jump through any hoops (no puns intended) to exchange the wheels.

They didn't make me send proof; they accepted my word. They didn't make me wait until they got my return to send me the replacements; they sent them right away. They didn't ding me for any money even though one of the returned wheels had sealant residue on it; zero costs extra.

Nope. BTD just made it easy. Thanks again!

Competitive Cyclist charges $6.99 (maybe more now) for a return label.

And besides, anyone offering “free returns” is just stuffing that cost in somewhere else anyway.
