I like how you think. Add a King Size Snickers bar and put that bonk to bed!

Starbucks makes no sense unless they're mixing in Robusta and lying through their teeth or are just literally spraying the beans with caffeine or something.

I think they're pretty rigid with how you make it in the store and they publish their ratio.

You can make their coffee at exactly the same dosage ratios and A/B it with another similar gourmet coffee and the Starbucks always seems to have more caffeine.

Unless there's just something else going on with it that gives you more jitters or something.

Interestingly there's starting to be a little bit of buzz about gourmet Robusta Cultivars.. that could end up being really interesting as Robusta is a heck of a lot easier to grow and could be more resistant to climate change.

I almost never am willing to drink Starbucks drip unless you're talking about maybe a Veranda Blend Tall... most of their darker ones will make me sick to my stomach. "Good" coffee absolutely doesn't do that for me.

Their espresso doesn't make me sick and seems better.. but it still seems like something funny is going on with it unless they are using quad shots for a double shot or some other weird redefinition.

edit: It sounds like Starbucks defines a single shot as what is traditionally a doubleshot... so a Grande is really 4 shots of espresso if you ask for a Latte or Cappucino.

They sponsored my last racing team (#NVV), crates of 1 & 2L bottles donated for races in all their bizarre flavors. Nothing like chugging a liter after a race . My God that stuff could kill you.

Latte in the morning
Another around noon or a Vietnamese iced coffee.
Anything after that is Green Tea which is not that often.

After a while, coffee (2 lattes a day, maybe it was the milk...) started giving me serious stomach problems, so I became a tea drinker.

makes sense bc french press needs to sit for 5 min, extracting more flavor, and caffeine i suppose. i bought a Baratza Encore grinder and the recommended grind for a press was not even close, way too coarse, looked like tea! disappointed with the grinder, as well.

Maybe you know this but you can calibrate that grinder to favor fine or coarse.

I enjoyed coffee also...until I got older, and my blood pressure started needing some attention. I didn't see any sense in taking BP meds so I could drink tea and coffee. And that morning coffee can keep your BP elevated for up to half a day.

But still miss that morning mug. I do sometimes mix some half and half with decaf. Not much effect from that.

Wouldn't matter to me. Coffee tastes much better to me than black or green tea. I will drink a cup of green tea late morning from time-to-time, but for me it's coffee all the way, baby!

I hear ya.

I was just happy to know that feature was there as it has helped on the other end for me.

Same here.

I need to quite coffee. I'm stocked up on tea. It hasn't happened yet.

I carry my own coffee while on vacation, just in case the hotel/breakfast spot has coffee that’s too weak. (And they often do) Add in just the right amount of Half and Half and the day is off to a very good start. So, I’m firmly in the coffee camp.

Others feel the same/differently?
Coffee has nothing to do with fueling my cycling but if it does for you maybe you need some of this...
