Hoefer Cycles: Tramontana
Still fairly new at this but I'm pretty stoked on this build.
30c capable (27c's shown) 2x12 mechanical road bike with tapered steerer. I lack machine tools, so all slots and holes and such are done by hand. This is the 6th bike I've sprayed; first I've done a clear over. Nate Zukas was kind enough to stand over my shoulder for the first couple, resisting the urge to just slap the gun out of my hand, instead giving me some really welcome advice on how not to suck without years of experience under my belt (but mostly just that I need years of experience under my belt). Tubing is a mix of 853 Pro, Life, and 4130 (whatever the scale said was the lightest in the tube drawers. Mast uses Thomson hardware, and with paint, the frame came in at 1362g for a 53.5cm ETT and 70.2cm saddle height. Dry weight (as pictured, without the bottle cage; no pedals) is 6.01kg (13.25 lb). Angles are classic 73/73, tubing is standard road 25.4TT, 28.6 DT/ST. Chainstays are 30x16mm long taper, and seatstays are 9.5mm OD 0.7mm wall thickness. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I had planned on the brake position, mostly as an exercise in working with direct mount, which I'd not done previously (nor any other rim brake mount for that matter), but it worked out that having the caliper hidden behind the chainring conceals the fact that CC doesn't (typically) do their limited colorways in that mount, so it's much harder to tell there's not a matched set of brakes! |

Those direct mount brakes will benefit from being mounted onto the stiffer chainstays.

Wow! Beautiful bike. The drillium detail in the RD is a nice touch.

Ultra likes... You put a hue of pink/violet in that pearl or is a pearl with a special name??? Would you share please??? I like the way the light gets over that finish.
Thanks ![]() |

Looks great man, I dig the top tube seat tube reinforcement plate. Lucky you have found someone to help show you the ropes on painting, that's a deep rabbit hole.

It's a white/purple/blue 'chameleon' called Pegasus from Guncandy. They've got a couple different color combos and some solids as well. Seemed like a nice add-in considering the base scheme I was going for.

Oh man... thanks a lot.... just figuring out how to make my winter project to pop w/o having to do anything drastic and that pearl is insane... I imagine you put clear on top??
Your painting skills are really good IMO, have done some stuff myself but where I fail is in the art part. Give me 10 colors and I pick the wrong combinations or the wrong designs... I dont have that touch at all... :/ |

It's actually an additive for the clear, in my case, Cerakote high gloss. Comes in a tiny little cylinder, that you dump into 4oz of clear, shake, spray, enjoy (or curse... ymmv

Yeah, they sell you the tint, you mix it with the clear (or anything you want) and shoot it... thought you put clear on top of it, either way looks dope man...

Loving everything about this bike, the thin seat stays, the bottom-mounted rear brake, the fades. The drillium. (Maybe the coolest part.)
What wheels are those?
