OT Ok I seen it all in regards to cycling

Ok I seen it all in regards to cycling
Out riding today and going north on the Iron Horse Trail in Walnut Creek just before Ygnaico Blvd and starting to climb over the overpass bridge over Ygnacio I see some walkers and the back of a cyclist with his head turned towards me. And he is coming from the north add just cresting the top of the overpass
Wait I think he is approaching towards me but I am seeing his back
Has I got closer that cyclist on a modern carbon fiber road bicycle is siting on the handlebars pedaling and under control and about to go down the incline
And he is also missing the walkers
That is it I retire from the crazy world of cycling
Yours and I am out of here

You need to be careful with those edibles Charles. Limit your preride intact to one section not the whole bar.

I know it sounds crazy, but I can confirm what Charles saw. I saw this guy out a few weeks ago around the same location.

Legit, he's sitting on his handlebars, facing backwards, looking over his shoulders, pedaling, and somehow isn't crashing. I'm not even sure how he starts or stops, but just seeing him move was quite impressive.

You can't retire from the crazy world of cycling it's what keeps us from going crazy.

That's how we did it as kids on a bmx bike. I'd snap my stem on my road bike with my fat @ss if I tried that now.

I had a childhood buddy who did the same.
I had him show my wife and I the trick when we were in our early 50's.
It didn't go as smoothly, but the crash was on beach sand.

As far as bicycle tricks go, that's one of the more common ones. We used to stuff like that all the time when I was kid. There are even official World Records for backwards cycling. For example, the official record for longest distance ridden backwards on a bike is 337.6 KM:

Been there, done that

As teenagers growing up in Broward County, FL we'd try just about anything on a bike.

I have done this, though not on a carbon road bike; on a Schwinn Speedster with 27" wheels and a coaster brake. I was not alone and my peers could do the same. In fact some of us (including Yours Truly) even managed to start on the saddle and, while riding, turn around to face backwards and keep going.

On this bike I could also ride a wheelie literally a mile, or around a block (having both left and right turns).

On the same bike I was once part of a 2-bike transport vehicle which carried, at night, a 4x8 sheet of 3/4" exterior plywood several miles from a building site to a tree fort construction site. Two up on the front bike, with the person in the rear holding the plywood; rear bike had the plywood resting on the handlebars.

We never wore helmets.

Forum member El Cheapo will attest to all of this!!!

In all seriousness, this is a world record I could break. I can ride backwards forever, just never realized it was an actual thing people did for long time. Maybe this will be my claim to fame!
