Any interest in a mixed surface ride in IL on Saturday?

I'm aware this should really be in the events section, but thought it would get more views here.

Friends are trying to revive a ride that ran for a couple of years about 5 years ago. Exact route is still under discussion, but it will include some of the Hennepin Canal path, some gravel, some pavement. "Main" route is looking to be about 49 miles with shorter and perhaps longer options. Start point is near Tiskilwa, about 8 miles south of the Princeton exit on I-80.

Buddy and I rode the first 12 miles of the route this evening before having to turn around. The canal path and the first section of gravel are in great shape, especially considering the 15" of rain that we've had in the past 6 weeks.

Message me if interested.

I don’t have a bike right now that can accommodate this trail and I’m coaching my son’s baseball team this date. However, please hit me up next year if you plan additional gravel rides and are looking for others to join.

Thanks for the moral support. The ride had riders from as far away as Milwaukee the last time the ride was held, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Friend who was the main organizer lost interest, then had a fatal heart attack while riding in 2018. So we lost the contact information for most of the non-local people who did the previous rides, and are starting again from a handful of local riders.

Looks like we have settled on routes of 27 and 49 miles. Anyone who wants to stay off the road can ride most any distance by staying on the canal path - up to 180 miles out-and-back.
