Are all Potenza cranks HO now?

I just want a silver compact crank to mix with some other silver stuff.. I'm not crazy about the little HO logo ( I wish campy could simplify their aesthetics). I'd just get a new Centaur crank as I prefer the simple aesthetics but they seem really heavy.

I have no idea even if they make silver potenza cranksets anymore, all ive seen lately is always black. The good about the last generations is that are UT.

Always you can get a PT silver BNIB, those are still around. Dont get scared about PT, the PT potenza has a self extracting bolt, you dont need tools to remove the NDS arm.

Those are difficult to find in a 172.5 compact.. They are making silver but it's all HO on their website.

The Potenza shown on the website don't have HO on the graphics and silver is listed as available. The weight is 801 grams.

The centaur are also shown in silver with no HO graphics. They weigh 875 grams.

Aren't the HO-designated cranks optimized for tire clearance and wider 135mm disc-brake chainlines?

I find excessive chainline on some of today's cranksets one of the most annoying things to deal with while out riding in the foothills, and have taken some difficult steps in some cases to deal with it no matter the consequences.

Even bikes from the 90's and 2000's which used the fatter 1-3/8" seat tubes often presented problems with limited front derailer retraction and resultant excessive chainline. Very bothersome imo.

Yes but the differences are teeny tiny. I doubt anybody in a blind test could tell the difference.

Patting myself on the back for buying a (now vintage!) silver Potenza group before they stopped making it. I guess I was the only person that liked it.

I remember when I picked it up from the shop the mechanic said something like: “If you like that group you better buy spares because they have a habit of cancelling product lines.”

That's good to know, and honestly my beef with chainline has not specifically been with Campagnolo since I do so few builds with this brand.

And I've seen differences in how different frames are positioning the crankset that seems like as much of a problem as the cranksets themselves.

The problems can be an issue when, for example, a chain tends to derail immediately when the pedals move backwards, due to cross-chaining angle of course but simply does not occur with all frames despite my use of no spindle spacers that might affect chainline.
