GRX shift levers on normal road drop bars?

Seems like all photos show the lever on way flared out gravel bars. Is there anything about he ergonomics that suggest they'd be weird on normal drops?

I recently rode a friends GRX Di2 equipped gravel bike around the block. The bars had no flare and the ergonomics looked and felt fine on a pair of non-flared drop bars. The Di2 grips felt great!

I have a pair listed here for sale and did not see any issues with the ergonomics on standard drop road bars. Mostly marketing of the levers to the gravel crowd.

The GRX levers are the best setup I've ever ridden. Fine on conventional bar or other.
