I haven't listened to 105.3 since the 80's when it was KITS playing the Top 40 songs during my teenage years. I personally don't care for the music on it now. Same with Alice at 97.3 (which used to be a Rock station KRQR years ago).

The 80's hit station that Martha Quinn hosts in the morning, I heart 80's was for a short time 60's, 70's and 80's music. They must have figured out fast that no one listening wanted to hear 60's and 70's tunes.

There are some interesting underground new groups out there... Here - try this for a shock: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQNtGoM3FVU Seriously - I dare you to watch the entire video and then give me your impression. From the Ukraine.

Yes - it is her voice. No she is not using anything to do it. The label did add an overdub, but other than that, it is recorded live in studio.

Different eh?

Oh, and to the OP - I stream everything anymore because I am tired of hot blooded, wheel in the sky, Jamie's cryin' and nothing from the B sides...

I just listen to over air in the car and that is pretty much exclusively the local college broadcast. On the rare occasions when they play a classic rock song I have to look at the radio to make sure I'm playing the right channel.

The conventional wisdom has always been that listeners in the Bay Area are more adventurous than the SoCal audience. When my sister was at UCB just after Y2K, Live 105 was breaking bands monthly. They added Muse, Interpol, White Stripes (for better or worse) to their rotation months before KROQ in LA.

LONDON — Vinyl sales have had a resurgence in recent years but almost half of those buyers apparently don't even play their records.

Almost 48% of UK vinyl buyers surveyed by ICM say they haven't listened to their records a month after purchase, according to the BBC.

And 7% don't even own a turntable.

"I have vinyls in my room but it's more for decor. I don't actually play them," said Jordan Katende, a student in Manchester.

Who said anything about listening to it on vinyl?

Companies are pressing new releases on vinyl. What consumers do with it after the fact is their own business.

But new stuff is getting pressed to vinyl. It sells.

What does any of this have to do with white people listening to jazz in the 40s?

Tell that to the dozens of turntable and phono cartridge manufacturers that are still going strong.

That was pretty weird. I liked the Bad Brains. A lot. Still listen to the classic stuff but all of the album as in Amazon musik which is pretty ok for my amateur ness.

Dude, I just read that record labels are making money! It's an interesting model, revenues based on legacy production distributed through new channels.
