The 3.8 is a no brainer. Mine is a '97 with SOHC and once it goes 3.8 is next up. 4.9's are nice, but my 5.29's are soooo choice.........i highly recommend it

I owe everything about my rig to @toastyfab.......if you're not following him you should be. Most of the North America Montero fanbase owes a lot of credit to that dude. He's a friggin genius. He's finalizing ins/outs of swapping 1UZ also so lots of things coming down the pipe. Let me konw your IG handle so I can follow you back..... Last edited by azrider; 05-14-2021 at 10:54 AM. |

Actually it is a wagon, and classified as an SUV so you are wrong. Also big LOL at comparing a Range Rover to a land cruiser.

There is a place down the street from me that imports these Japanese fire trucks. I've seen a few on the road.

Tried to go skiing in backyard with the LX as the ski lift. Needless to say all seasons weren’t the best tire choice.

my 1974
Was going to the community college in ‘74, and car pooled some days. I would get home and my LC would be gone! My younger brother, who was in HS, was taking it out for joy rides. I was pissed off bc i had a PT job some afternoons. I told my mom (i was living at home for a bit then) “dont let him take it!” The very next day she let him take it - “he said he was doing an errand for you!” Well he totaled it into a phone pole. Hit so hard, it broke the bell housing. I got $500 salvage for it bc he was 1) new driver under 18 y/o 2) not on my insurance policy. Ironically, brother took this pic!

I'll play. 4.3 chevy, 700r trans, 6.4 transfer case, 4.57 gears. Air locker front and detroit locker rear. Built for a Moab trip but didn't have the heart to tear it up

Just throwing this out as an FYI for the Cruiser lovers here. Not mine but FS in the PNW...nice BJ74 with the BT-13 diesel. Supposedly only 83 thousand on the OD, price seems a bit crazy to me, but then again used car prices seem crazy inflated these days.

I am toying with the idea of possibly entertaining thoughts of selling my 87’ FJ60. (Hear the reluctance in that statement?) That said, after ten years of ownership I have no idea about the FMV on these today. I know about ih8mud but honestly find that site crazy hard to navigate. Hence my question, do the collective cruiser folks here know of a good way to determine rough estimated value? I don’t know if my Cruiser is worth 10k or 25K. I am sure somewhere in between. I do not know if the market is strong or weak with COVID and all.
From the very little investigation I have done it seems these range from 3K to 85K and with the exceptions of the ends of the spectrum I cannot understand what makes one vehicle worth appreciably more or less than the next. I know it is worth what someone will pay but I need a ballpark to begin (or not, cause I am riding the fence here folks)! Thanks for any help you can give. I am more than happy to answer questions, send pics or videos, etc. to anyone who could use them to help establish a FMV. One pic can be found on page 10 of this thread. I sold my 1973 FJ40 last November and it's still a painful thing to think about. The prices were going up back then but have shot up even higher since. I still think I could have held onto it and gotten maybe another 5-10k more but in the end I'm really happy with the 100 series that replaced it.
I would hang onto it unless you absolutely need to sell. All indicators are that the prices continue to go up, so time seems to be on your side. Looking at your pic, your 60 looks great! I'd say determine what you want, then ask 35k and see what you can get. Last edited by muttley; 08-10-2021 at 04:43 PM. |
