(OT) Watch the Indy Grand Prix - Saturday July 4
Just wanted to give a heads up for anyone that might be interested, as the racing season has been so slow to get underway.
Will Power is on the pole. The top 19 cars are qualified within 1 second, and last year's race winner is the 20th qualifier. Broadcast starts at noon (Eastern) on NBC. |

I like the fact that the IRL still has cars that make a racket accelerating and under braking. Also, it appears the driver still has to manipulate the transmission and a clutch a bunch. Something to be said for driver input. F1? I don't know what those things have turned into. For me, I think F1 peaked with the V10. Hasn't done anything for me since
It's kinda fun watching the driver have to fight the car a little bit on the road section with the aero package that one has to have for the high speed parts of Indy. Something to be said for planting the the car into a turn with some drift and a little opposite lock upon the exit Last edited by peanutgallery; 07-04-2020 at 12:49 PM. |

Sadly the Indy Series doesn't get as much mainstream coverage as it should
Love the old Cart Series, this is great racing too |

Peanut - IRL hasn't existed for years - they run as IndyCar now.
It was a good race. Nice to see Graham Rahal run well today. Dixon is still amazingly fast. BK

Yay. I haven't followed F1 for a while now but watching the Netflix got me up to date with the teams/drivers etc. Looking forward to it tomorrow.

Damn.. would have liked to watch, kind of a boring afternoon, it's really hot here and we were outside all morning.
Totally missed it. |

Really unfortunate that the only yellow of the day ruined Rahal's strategy. Fuel conservation up to that point cost him a lot of track position. Guessing he would have cruised to the win if the race had stayed green. He did well to hold on to 2nd. Pigot looked like a legitimate contender before the engine went away. It's too bad that he doesn't have a ride for the full season. Pretty tough day for the Andretti team, only Colton Herta really figured in the mix.

Peanut - IRL dates back to when there was the split and Champ Car ran a separate series.
When the two organizations merged it became IndyCar. But WOW what a great Xfinity race. Best NASCAR race I’ve seen in recent memory. BK

Great Indy car race today. Skill level with 1300 LB cars and lots of HP rather incredible. NASCAR Infinity race was a thriller also. Best NASCAR race I've watched in a while, and it wasn't even their top series (tomorrow for that). Some of these NASCAR guys could be successful driving anything.
