Pointless? that's really subjective.... for example the other big one is the one in PA, at the track. Never been in that one because almost all the time rains that weekend, no matter if its winter or the summer like event... drive 2 hours to get socking wet, same with whatever you could buy, that i would call pointless... but at md the even at least is at closed doors, cold as hell in the 1st 2 hours but at least you wont be socking wet

The other factor is... "How the event will be this year"... every year is different, so is a big mistery.

Oh I definitely want to go. Vendors get in at 6:30 and it opens at 9:30 to the public.. So if you don't have a table, Id guess the best deals are already done in the 3 hours before the doors open. You kinda said that too.

Trexlertown is a great swap. Yeah it's rain or shine but they have a beer stand the other cool thing is that if you walk behind the velodrome, there is actually another swap meet in a field behind a firehouse. It's almost as big but mostly vintage (balloon tire/stingray stuff). It's 3 days and people camp there. For some reason everyone in the field knows about the velodrome but most people in the velodrome don't know/go to the field.

Hmm, if most of the good stuff is already gone before it even opens, what about the bikes people put up for sale? Any gems there from recent years?

I've done well (Crocket CX bought on the way out the door in the afternoon for a good price) and done poorly but have always had fun. I'm also going again this year and sharing a space to sell a few things ...

Hint: if you know someone with a space it might behoove you to speak with them and make a deal to "share" their space so you can get in early. No matter what you have to pay $5 entry fee

Figured I might as well start the list of things I'm bringing in case I can generate some interest/sales lol.

- Early production Merlin Ti roadie - DA and 600 parts mix
- Raleigh Rush Hour fixie with two wheel options, or sold without wheels
- 84-85 (not positive) DeRosa F+F. Custom paint from local team/chrome fork
- 88 Club Fuji - totally OG
- pre-Trek Lemond (Billato built) with FULL Mavic "starfish" grouppo
- Stoopid clean 600 grouppo with wheels
- small tub of random stuff

I doubt that. I get there ~1 hr before opening, and that's fine, IMO. Anything much earlier, and no one's really fully set up. New stuff is constantly coming in throughout the morning as well.

Agree with Otay... since every year is different is hard to know what items will be there at all. SOme deals are earlier because the sellers already spoke ahead of the show.

FOr example one year I saw 1 campagnolo UT crankset which I bought... then pretty much nothing else campagnolo... other year saw easy like 7 groups.. all way too up there.

Other years have been shimano and vintage parts...

One thing is certain, that dont see something doesnt mean is not around somewhere because some guys have some much stuff that forget to even put some stuff over the table, with other guys you have to look under the tables...

I have a whole box of vintage hubs, mostly Campagnolo from the 40's onward. I also have a few sets of cambia cross levers with hubs. I'll also be bringing some delta brakes and a bunch of other doodads. I'll be sharing a table with ultraman6970.

Westminster MD swap meet

I woke up late and decided to go last minute. Quite the show! I think it’s worth to go again. I had my eyes on a few bikes, but they were all not in my size...maybe next year.

I did, however, end up buying a thing.

I made the drive down and sold a reasonable number of items. Some of the more eclectic things that I brought were simply brought along as show and tell items. Turn-out was down compared to last year I think but there seemed to be more money changing hands (I might be wrong).
