If the water was that deep on the trail, I might opt for swim fins.

This. I have a pair of these that are about 6 years old and wouldn't wear anything else. they have a lace lock between the foot-laces and the ankle-laces that allow you to adjust each independently. super comfortable.

My wife and I got some Oboz last year for some trekking in South America. I got Oboz Bridgers and love them.

My Oboz were the Tamarack.
The Bridger replaced the Tamarack using the same sole and slightly evolved upper design.
Great shoe.

These were the winners. I ordered a pair and they are as comfortable as the hokas. Thanks! Made it worthwhile having to read through the KIA's!

Good pick and thanks for the recommendation by XXTwin pal, I also ordered a pair, more of a replacement for my 3-year-old almost worn-out Salomon X4, in fact I was just wearing the new pair this morning while hiking with my kids at the Sonoran desert in Tucson.
