Any of you guys ever do this on a Hardtail? I'm considering bringing mine along just in case it ends up a muddy mess.

Sounds fun if the conditions are terrible but then you going to not have a great time on pavement or maintained gravel which seems like this ride has a lot. I will be on 48mm knobies. They did me good 2 weeks ago

I haven't tried the 48mm knobbies out on my Drifter yet. I have a set, but the smooth tread ones only had a couple of mm on each side for clearance.

I did last year.
The sections in the woods were deep mud and I had a blast.
But the rest of the ride was very very long on the MTB.

Iā€™m doing it on my dirt road bike this year and installing 700x38 Compass knobbies as we speak.

The off road sections are the mud hazards, they are short and can be easily cut out. The dirt roads should be fine, some potholes and maybe washboard but nothing that should slow you down much. If the rain keeps up I will bypass the mud and enjoy the roads. I will be on xplor 35's, perfect tires for these roads which I have ridden many times.

I will get in touch with BB Dave, he'll have the inside scoop.

Sounds good. I am not out that way much other than the in-laws. BB Dave will know where to go.

I could be too. Are you guys thinking dinner in Albany, or something in the Hudson Valley? How close to Albany do you need to be? I can offer up some recommendations if you want to eat in the Albany area.

I'll be in Redford for Saturday dinner, but might be able to sneak out for a pint.

I plan to go sleep at my mom's house in Half-moon that night so I don't want to go too far south.
I just picked Albany as the closest place likely to have choices in restaurants.

There are probably a few places to eat in Chatham, NY. Albany is not super far but out of the way for some.

I wish I could do dinner but wifes bday is on Monday so I need to get home and celebrate it with her since I won't be able to do it on her actual bday.

Hope to see you all. I will be on my green OPEN, will be easy to spot.

Weatherdudes are saying sunny and 70s for Sunday in Chatham, NY. That, preceded by several days of ā€” wait for it ā€” no rain. Mud should have a nice tacky consistency by then. Keeping hope alive. Looking forward to it.
