Hunt wheels

A while back I mentioned I was thinking about getting a set of Hunt wheels and someone said not to, but rather go with a hand built set of something instead for not much more. I can't find that post anymore.

I'm thinking about getting these for reference: https://www.huntbikewheels.cc/collec...tubeless-ready

They seem like a pretty hard to beat value. Any other suggestions?

damn...that price is hard to beat.

wonder how much 'old potatoe' might charge for something similar. i would definitely go with his wheel building skills, even if his wheels were a bit more expensive.

I've heard good things about Hunt but no first hand knowledge. Campy Zonda disc from Probike or another UK shop might be in the same $$ range. Definitely a tried and true wheel that I do have.

I had a pair of hunt wheels, they were excellent. CS was excellent, they got to me in a few days. They were the truest wheels I have ever had. I was very happy with them, would not hesitate to buy again.

And shipping is free to the US. Crazy good deal.

And..their accessories are cheap. End caps are like $10. I can't find anything better on paper, so it's good to hear positive things from someone who has them. Thanks.

Did the wheels feel flexy to you? Have you read about any of Hunts wheels being flexy?

have a set of the Hunt 650b Adventure Sport Disc on my Twin Six Standard Rando.
steel bike, WTB Horizon 650x47 tires, and i'm pretty big/fat (currently)
wouldn't be able to comment on flex, but with the tires being as large as they are, they run very close to my full fenders, so if they go out of true i'll know pretty quick. a month or so in, no issues banging them over the pothole'd chicago streets.
will be taken off road for some graveling pretty soon.

o/t, but that is a cool bike. I’ve yet to see one in the wild.

They were not flexy at all but they were the ones rates for more weight, i think 250lb max rider.

Certainly not $379..another example of private label stuff, built with no charge for labor. Basically free labor. Bitex hubs, Sapim Race spokes, Velocity A23...about the same $ for me..except I gotta add $55 per wheel for labor.

Speaking of Bitex hubs, I know that a lot of people here think they're really good value for money. However, on this pair of Hunt wheels, those hubs look like they have to have pretty small bearings, which would be a potential concern. (They're not the wheels the OP linked.)

aesthetically these are pretty good looking.

Can anyone say if they've built a "better" mousetrap or are these just another choice in private label builds?
