Frame saver tape question...
Hi all,
What clear tape do you guys use to protect your frames from cable rub? As always, thank you all in advance! Steve

I have a roll of 3M clear bra I purchased on Amazon, I have a punch set and create various sized circles, and it looks very clean. No residual sticky material when I peel it off. Ok for paint. I also make chain stay protectors, rotor bump guards (mtb) carbon handle bar number plate guards (mtb) etc.

Be careful
I used a roll of 3M tape to protect my mountainbike while I waited for a die-cut kit to arrive.
During removal of the 3M tape (following manufacturer instructions) the clear tape peeled some clear coat on my carbon mtb frame. This mostly occurred over logos on the frame (ie. suspension name on chainstay), possibly less clear coat here? Not sure. I applied substantial heat and peeled at an acute angle, the 3M tape must have been extra tacky? The die cut kit I ordered was from https://www.ridewrap.ca/ and looks like they mostly make items for mountain bikes, but if your bike is on there I highly recommend it. I've been very happy with the product. |
