The cardiologist set me up for a stress test on a cycling ergometer, and had me wear a Zico patch HRM for 2 weeks. The result was a diagnosis of Supra Ventricular Tachycardia (SVT). So, my advise, not ignore it, it could be something more serious than a HRM belt not working properly. Good luck!
This scenario is one I thought long and hard about. All the concurrent indications were that it was the HRM and not me. No undue fatigue and the reading would stay at 220 + even when I was waiting on a stop light.
I also wear a Garmin 745 watch (absolutely love it) and it showed no such anomaly. I'd use the watch on broadcast as my HRM if it didn't use so much battery.I think I'm going to buy a Polar H10.

I haven't just had one HRM do this, I had 3 Wahoo replacements in a row.

Pulled the trigger on a Polar H10 and haven't looked back since
