Sorry,

I have ridden that SA trail. Every time it is worse with the residentially challenged members of society.

I took mild offense at the suggestion that poor or troubled individuals constitute sewage.

Orange County is a weird place. I think it's sad or unfortunate that thousands of working class persons live in motels on Harbor Blvd because they can't afford $2500/month 1 bedroom apartments. But, hey, there are winners and losers in society. I know as there is a homeless encampment 10 feet away from one of my properties (appraised at 500K).

In the shadow of the world's largest highway interchange and one of the reasons you can buy cheap produce for your family

I learned to work the saxophone
I play just what I feel
Drink Scotch whiskey all night long
And die behind the wheel
They got a name for the winners in the world
I want a name when I lose
They call Alabama the Crimson Tide
Call me Deacon Blues

Thats what I dont get. Housing is a fortune. Some make really good money and live well. Some make really good money and dont. Or they work just to pay for a home. I got the heck out when I realised that my position pays better here than it did there. You can buy a new 5 bedroom home in a great area for 300K. We have hills and quiet roads for miles. Good schools for the kids. I just mentioned this thread to the wife. She isin agreement, we are done with Ca.

Thread drift:

Winter sncks. I've lived in St Louis for over 30 years, but there's no way I'm going to retire here. Maybe not CA, certainly not OC, but definitely somewhere with better weather.

I kind of miss the 90s after the aerospace collapse when it seemed half the state left for Arizona, Seattle and Nevada. But then the internet happened.

The 90s also had

earthquake
fire
riots

I get the feeling LA was a bit of a desert. My bud Eric bought his house for $225k then - recently appraised around $1mil. 2 BR ~ 1100 sqft.

I told him to sell, pay it all off, and move to Ashland.
