For a completely anecdotal experience from a couple years ago:

I was like Froome, but sick, fat and ignorant to the science. Did help me feel better on the bike though after the illness.

Here's a systematic review on the subject.

"In conclusion, no significant effects were detected for inhaled β2-agonists on endurance, strength or sprint performance in healthy athletes. There is some evidence indicating that systemic β2-agonists may have a positive effect on physical performance in healthy subjects, but the evidence base is weak."

I suspect these guys are using them IV (systemic)...

I'm proud to be a 1%er.

There's plenty of racers on this forum, some even have EIA. Your lecture rings hollow.

Which would be against the rules.

I believe a TUE is required for any amounts above the 1600 micrograms per day limit or taking sulbutamol via injection or orally. I don't believe Froome has a TUE for this, which is where his trouble is coming from.
My point is that 1600 mcg is an unusually large amount of this drug to take in a day.

As is typical, INRNG has a good synopsis... http://inrng.com/2017/12/chris-froomes-salbutamol-case/

Are you putting yourself in the same class as 7/8 digit earning WT GC riders?

Or were you talking about another sport?

Ahh top of the amateur sport.

Is it just me or does anyone else think of of a cured meat (salami) when seeing the word Salbutamol?

"Yo, Vinny, gimme a hoagie with some lettuce, to-mate, oil-vinegar, oregano, pro-vah-LONE, gobba-gool, and while yer at it trow some prah-shoot on dair and a handful of the salbutawhatever. Tanks!"

like the stock market, by the time it hits the press, it's old news.

recycled materials.

hit automatic playback.

Lappartient (on the phone): "hey davey, we got a problem."

Brailsford: "Really? what's the problem?"

L: "the guys at the lab found something."

B: "Ok, so what?"

L: "someone leaked it to outside."

B: "hmmmm....(long pause) I think you need to fix this."

L: "I cannot....not this time. I just become President."

B: "&^%^%$&^^*"

Can someone else pick up the rest of the script?

A few things come to mind when I heard this:
- How are we just hearing about this now? It happened at the Vuelta, a few months ago. When there is a less famous rider busted, you hear about it before their B sample has been ran.
- If he had taken that much, how was his heart not beating a million miles an hour? I'm a lifetime asthma sufferer, and I have doctors tell me all the time that it will raise your heart rate. Also, when taken in a large dose, I get the shakes, and apparently that's normal.

Also, this is a really good analysis on what happened and what is to come:

And background on why athletes have asthma
