For a completely anecdotal experience from a couple years ago:
https://forums.thepaceline.net/showt...99#post1821599 I was like Froome, but sick, fat and ignorant to the science. Did help me feel better on the bike though after the illness. |

Here's a systematic review on the subject.
"In conclusion, no significant effects were detected for inhaled β2-agonists on endurance, strength or sprint performance in healthy athletes. There is some evidence indicating that systemic β2-agonists may have a positive effect on physical performance in healthy subjects, but the evidence base is weak." I suspect these guys are using them IV (systemic)... |

As is typical, INRNG has a good synopsis... http://inrng.com/2017/12/chris-froomes-salbutamol-case/

Is it just me or does anyone else think of of a cured meat (salami) when seeing the word Salbutamol?
"Yo, Vinny, gimme a hoagie with some lettuce, to-mate, oil-vinegar, oregano, pro-vah-LONE, gobba-gool, and while yer at it trow some prah-shoot on dair and a handful of the salbutawhatever. Tanks!" |

like the stock market, by the time it hits the press, it's old news.
recycled materials. hit automatic playback. 72 hours ago.... Lappartient (on the phone): "hey davey, we got a problem." Brailsford: "Really? what's the problem?" L: "the guys at the lab found something." B: "Ok, so what?" L: "someone leaked it to outside." B: "hmmmm....(long pause) I think you need to fix this." L: "I cannot....not this time. I just become President." B: "&^%^%$&^^*" Can someone else pick up the rest of the script?

A few things come to mind when I heard this:
- How are we just hearing about this now? It happened at the Vuelta, a few months ago. When there is a less famous rider busted, you hear about it before their B sample has been ran. - If he had taken that much, how was his heart not beating a million miles an hour? I'm a lifetime asthma sufferer, and I have doctors tell me all the time that it will raise your heart rate. Also, when taken in a large dose, I get the shakes, and apparently that's normal. Also, this is a really good analysis on what happened and what is to come: http://sportsscientists.com/2017/12/...utamol-result/ And background on why athletes have asthma https://cyclingtips.com/2016/04/why-...s-have-asthma/ |
