The judges votes are in:
Bradshaw 4 - Brady 5 and counting!

Brady GOAT QB until someone proves otherwise. As for GOAT football player there are so many to choose from...probably someone that personifies toughness, strength, indominatable spirit...how about Jim Brown?

How does one account for the contributions of everyone around him?

In other words, what about Bill Belichick vs Chuck Noll

And the other players at the skill positions and the offensive and defensive lines?

we get that... but someone got to be it and at this point Brady makes the most sense.

I think that's primarily due to recency bias.

Brady would never get up for the hits ol' Terry would take. The man could be wobbling from a concussion and still throw S.B. winning touch downs. Brady would be off sucking his thumb and crying if he had to take those kinds of hits. Just sayin....

As avid a Patriots fan as I am, TB12 is the GOAT QB but I would never claim GOAT player.

Well, I might try to discuss it.....

Probably not.

Jamesdak -

The rules changed precisely because of this.

Bradshaw can barely walk unassisted anymore from the pounding he took.

As much as I like football, it is not the gladiatorial games where I want bodies carted off the field.

Have seen this much more egregiously at the games in Mexico. I'd walk off the field. Should be in the next CBA. League needs to ensure players won't be blinded.

One of my favorite brushes with fame, meeting him. Such a nice guy.

Jim Thorpe also comes to mind.

Yes. What if Brady played for the Browns, the Lions or another team in that general level. Would he have the numbers/Super Bowls? Would he even be playing anymore?
I understand you could make this argument for nearly everyone, but it has to be considered. He's not doing it alone. Cracks me up how a guy makes a good run for a score and the first thing they do is zoom in on Tom.

Also, regarding another post here, there is no way Brady would survive the hits QB's from other era's had to. He has to be one of the most, if not THE most, protected players in the league - protected by the ref's, that is. I give you the bogus roughing the passer call from the Chiefs game as an example. The different angles didn't give me the impression that the defender even touched his face mask, rather a tap on the front of the shoulder pads. If there was any contact with the face mask, it was very minimal and accidental and may have had his hand moved there - also not on purpose - by the shoulder or helmet of the guy blocking him.
