The most comfortable shorts I've used have been the Assos T. Mille ones. They come in bib and shorts, and come in both long and short length for the thighs. The long leg bib shorts were most comfortable to me, and I got them on sale at the Assos Outlet store online. The are expensive, but worth every penny. Like every one has mentioned, sizing and comfort is a very personal choice. Me, I like the "as comfortable as it gets" choice. Here's a review link: https://road.cc/content/review/22275...tmilleshortss7 , you may have to search around for the long leg version in your size on sale and availability. They are very durable too. Good luck in your quest for comfort.

I really like the way my donkey labels fit and feel - however they are nearly 6x ($225) the price of black bibs ($40) and in line with options from rapha ($135-270) and assos they are a good option.
I used to hate bibs until I was forced to wear biemme for a few events. The chamois is a bit "diaperish", but feels pretty good and the length is good for longer torso people. They have a few models so, price range is closer to black bibs - $90 -$200 For the record, was forced to wear hincapies a few times and they were torture devices. Chamois from blackbibs looks very similar to my hincapies. |

Classic=original line, band on sleeve - regular fit Brevet= adventure/touring, usually 2 stripes across chest - regular fit ProTeam=Race fit Souplesse=Womens I hear Core is very good, with the Classic's chamois at $100 less. Classic/Brevet/ProTeam all are top quality with different targets and materials. |

Trikotexpress has tons of santini and other pro quality bibs for cheap, can’t wrap my head around why more people don’t get bibs from there honestly. Unless you like throwing away hundreds of dollars on bibs that aren’t any better than $75 bibs pros use...

Rapha core is still good stuff. But classic/brevet is a bit better. Check the archive, they might have some good deals on them still in your size.

My most comfy pair of bib shorts is a pair of GSGs from about 7-8 years ago. I like a very large, thick pad, and these had a crazy dense chamois. Nothing worse than a skimpy pad, or worse yet, sitting on a seam. OUCH.
(fyi, I'm north of 200 with a big butt) |

Voler for sure. excellent bibs for a decent price. I have a pair of bibknickers from blackbibs and it's as good as any good knicker out there.
in regards to good shorts, I find the Craft bibs to be without peer. Best ever bibs (compression, pads, thigh elastics, etc). |

How about fit? I'm always in between a small and medium. I wore 30" jeans when I weighed in the 130's, but I'm about 9 lbs heavier now and not sure I'll get back that low.
I bought a pair of Castelli knickers recently and upsized to a medium, but had to return them and get a large. 5'-6.5" and 143 lbs should never need a large. Last edited by Dave; 01-22-2019 at 06:11 PM. |
