Tubless mounting question

Quick question here for the crowd.
I mounted and inflated a new tire on my gravel bike, it both went on and inflated SUPER easy with just a regular pump, however there were none of those popping sounds when it inflated.
Is it fully secure if it does not make those popping sounds when being inflated?.

I would inspect the bead and make sure it’s even all around, both sides. But no pop is sus.

Let the air out and see if you have to break the bead to open it up

Floor pump says you probably have a good seal but...whe in doubt

if it holds air overnight without sealant you're good.

if not, add another layer of tape.

The tires are WTB Vulpines, 40's

Pops are satisfying but not always present. Look for uniform bead along the rim. Did the OP use soapy water to seat the tire? Also put some soapy water along the bead after inflating and look for bubbles.

I did not use soapy water, the tire went out so smoothly I did not see the need for that.

My Bontrager RSL wheels have never made the cracking sound with Gravelkings but did with Pirelli's and both work without issue.

Does it have a lump or lumps when you spin the wheel? If not, you are good.

Holding air overnight with no sealant is an unreasonable expectation and certainly does not suggest that more rim tape is needed. My rims need no rim tape and my road tires won't stay inflated for many hours until I put the sealant in.

I've never had a tire/rim combo that didn't make a significant, audible pop but I'm sure they exist. Safety is involved, unwise not to confirm.

You can usually visually tell if a tire has not settled into the bead seat because graphics / lines on the sidewall will not align with the bead. Additionally, the tire will have a visual wobble when spun. Could always check with soapy water for bead seal if in doubt.

I don't believe I've ever had a tubeless setup that did not pop into place audibly.

I have a set of Maxxis velocitas that were a real pain to get to seal, and there definitely was no popping into place. I have never had any trouble with those tires since I first mounted them

Maybe not needed, but I would ask - if it doesnt hold air, where is it going? Most likely the interface of bead and rim is slightly loose.

Could be but, unless you are using a true tubeless tire designed to be used without sealant, that air is bleeding through the casing if you're airing up that tire without sealant. Dunk the tire under water and see the bubbles coming out of it, if you don't believe me.
