Shadow Play

My fall riding isn't complete without a loop to the river bottoms on my gravel bike. I was racing the sun and my shadow Saturday afternoon, arriving home a few minutes after sunset.

Church!

I've been missing my rides. I saw the forecast for a light southeast wind and knew I had to do this 55 mile (mostly) gravel route yesterday. The temp was hovering a shade above freezing the entire ride. I came upon a guy tinkering with his planes in his garage and had to circle back for a closer look and a chat. He said he was going up flying soon and would look for me from the air. If our paths ever crossed, I never did see him.

April in February

It wasn't easy trying to figure out how to dress for yesterday's ride. The temp went from the upper 40s to the mid-60s (8 - 18c) while I was out there, and blustery! Feeling the sun on my face again was a nice bonus!

Is it Still Winter?

I've been able to get out several times this week and enjoy the warm weather that's become the norm this winter. (Is it still winter?) The gravel roads in any direction out of Northfield Minnesota are sublime! I wish Lakeville could boast the same but at least they're within easy reach for me! This is some video from yesterday afternoon's ride.

Friday Gravel

Yesterday's easterly wind was ideal for a gravel loop to the southeast—my favorite direction for gravel riding. I crossed paths with my friend Jason who is new to gravel riding and loving it! This was only his 2nd time on his new ride. It was nice to catch up with him.

I finish the video with two photos of my recently finished stained glass project. This is the first time I merged my love of cycling with my love of glass art.

River Bottoms Romp

My mountain bike has sat idle for the last few months so it was nice to spend some time riding it yesterday on trails along the Minnesota River south of Minneapolis. I may be nearly 67 but when I'm riding either my mountain bike or my fat tire bike, I'm 14 again. (IYKYK)

Earth Day Ponderosa Pine Ride

Yesterday, I rode the 70-mile Ponderosa Pine Earth Day ride out of Northfield, MN. Northfield boasts some awesome gravel roads in any direction, with this event featuring some of the best of those roads. Conditions were breezy with a 15-20 mph headwind for most of the return making for a memorable event.
