Barcelona - comedy about 1980s Americans living in Spain.
Ravenous - horror/action/almost comedy about cannabilism in the 1840s Sierras. Guy Pierce and Robert Carlyle. Shallow Grave - Ewan MacGregor and Danny Boyle before Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire. Run Lola Run - stylish German action/destiny pic. Great soundtrack. Any of the French crime films by Mellville - Le Samurai is a good one. Strange Days - Kathryn Bigelow of Hurt Locker with Ralph Finnes and Angela Bassett. Screenplay by James Cameron. Miami Blues - Baldwin! Orlando - beautiful and funny adaptation of Virginia Wolfe novel with Tilda Swinton as the immortal main character. Tampopo - hilarious Japanese film skewers Japanese life on the quest for the perfect bowl of ramen. |

Spielberg's first flick ..... The dinner scene is a classic. If you have never see this flick, grab the family together, heat up the pop corn and be on the edge of your seat for 90 minutes. It was actually a made for TV movie .... That was when the big 3 actually did stuff. Not shows were they make frns where we make idiots of ourselves jumping thru hoops http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MtAMc4i8OA

Korean movies are where it's at!
Second Old Boy and the whole Vengeance trilogy -- but not for the weak. The best film I've seen in a long time was Lee Chang-Dong's Poetry. |

I have to put my 2 cents in for Repoman. It's so good on so many levels and the more times you see it the more there is to see.

Little Big Man ...popular in its day (before my time), but forgotten these days. Awesome storytelling and rich characters, plus a great acoustic blues soundtrack. First line of the movie: "111 years ago, when I was ten years old, my family...in crossin' the Great Plains...was wiped out by a band of wild Indians. Everybody was killed or drug off by them murderin' varmints, except me and my sister Caroline."
Ronin with Robert DeNiro...more recent, sort of came and went without much fanfare, but I flippin loved it. See it for the car chases if nothing else. Kingpin ...Hilarious! Jacob's Ladder ...freaky and awesome. Last edited by Bob Loblaw; 06-20-2011 at 02:16 PM. |
