Stem rise question
So I like the rise of my Deda Zero 100 stem but want a Fizik bar on my next build. How does the 82 degrees of a Deda stem compare to the Fizik stem with +/- 20 degrees on the Fizik stem? The 7 degree Fizik stem has too much rise. Thanks!

?? deda calling theirs 82 is just another way of saying 8 degrees. The +/- 20 fizik stem in the correct negative position would put you considerably lower

Your question is confusing. An 82 degree stem is the same as a plus or minus 8. A fizik 7 degree would be about the same.

I haven’t studied geometry for 45 years, but isn’t a 82 degree stem the same as an 8 degree stem, but just measured from another axis? If I’m correct, that would amount to a 12 degree difference between the 20 degree stem when they are set up the same way (each with positive rise for instance).

So this is my current bike and I like the stem. was wondering how close the Fizik stem would be.. It's odd that they all seem to measure differently

Why not keep the stem if you like the fit and just use the fizik bar with it?
You can also use this widget to see how changing stems will will alter resulting handlebar position. http://yojimg.net/bike/web_tools/stem.php The difference will be bigger the longer your stem is, but even for something like 120mm stem, a 1deg change is only going to result in the handlebar position being 2mm higher and 1mm closer to you. That's close to imperceptible IMO, but YVMV. Last edited by batman1425; 05-11-2021 at 07:15 PM. |
