I had to laugh watching team mechanic struggle with Alaphilippe’s bike. He had an impact gun to remove the bolts on the front wheel thru-axle and give up and change the bike.

So much for disk brake

The highlight so far is a successful 3-man breakaway and about a dozen on and off-camera crashes.

Yes, he has had 2 crashes today and shaking his head right now... hope is just frustration and not a sign of serious issues

(Edit) this is getting ridiculous, crashes, crashes, crashes...

You could see the look of agony on his face as he went to get back on the bike the second time. Ouch.

What was up with the female spectator, phone or handbook in one hand, trying to help a team mechanic with the other, with her face mask on her chin?

She could have ended the tour for several teams right there.
