So, we haven't really been eating out still, just maybe one night of takeout every two weeks or so, but here are a couple options that seem to be doing it right in these times...
Guero PDX - https://www.guerotortas.com/ 50 Licks - https://www.fifty-licks.com/ Nongs Khao Man Gai - https://khaomangai.com/ All three have vegetarian and vegan options, and all look to be doing a good job of maintaining appropriate distancing. Another great option is Arrosto in Providore Market, and the market itself - which is worth a stop if you are a foodie and/or wine geek - https://www.providorefinefoods.com/ and http://www.arrostopdx.com/ Nossa Familia Coffee is a local favorite but really there are so many - Coava, Roseline, Heart, Good Coffee and many many more.. I'll let others chime in with beer purveyor recommendations. |

Agreed on Arrosto. Also: Tight Tacos, Olympia Oyster Bar, Coquine, PaaDee, Epif...
...so many. I didn’t really ride much out of the city. Mostly up through Forest Park/Skyline or drive to bike in the White Salmon/Hood River and also lower Columbia River valley. But one easy and pleasant option is the Banks-Vernonia trail. |

PS - I would love to see that GPS file for the "four peaks" ride for the next time I get over the mountains, whenever that may be. |

One of our local cubs has a good list of local rides. These were mostly done as group rides in "The Before Times," but are done solo these days.
It's been a beautiful summer here so far. Enjoy your visit! https://www.roulecycling.com/pages/rides |

As far as Portland being on fire and a war zone, don't believe the mainstream media. Portland is safe (mostly) much safer than Chicago I'm betting. I'm far more concerned the homeless encampments along the bike paths and running over needles, and all the punks running around. Portland is a destination city for homeless youngsters as the climate is pretty mild and we offer more social services than most cities. Having said this crime is on the rise it would seem, with our rapidly growing population. Also, car traffic in Portland is really getting nasty and dangerous despite all of our bike paths. If you stick to more touristy neighborhoods and stay away from the couple blocks of riots by SW Salmon and Main you should have a nice trip. If you go down there at night you will definitely be breathing tear gas. Please PM me for any questions. http://apizzascholls.com/ https://www.scottiespizzaparlor.com/ https://www.checkerboardpdx.com/ https://kensartisan.com/pizza

Is Pizzacato and American Dream pizza still a thing in PDX?

Pizzacato is still a thing. Pretty good for tasty food, but not all that special as pizza. Still, I like it — my only requirement for pizza, in order to eat it, is that it doesn’t totally suck, and Pizzacato doesn’t suck at all.
