forgot to mention. at least in my situation, the hose is different in these newer kits, but the head still swaps perfectly fine. The cost is the same whether you buy the head/hose kit or just the head. So just unscrew the head off it, and itll swap easy. and use the hose for some other project

And, so, I'm looking for a second (N+1) pump, and I dug up this thread.

Show of hands - who would buy one of these?

$800 USD Richard Sachs floor pump

On a related note, the Silca Pista Plus has an "Integrated Schrader chuck plus press-on alloy Presta chuck with Bleeder valve". I don't like the sound of that, and am considering the standard/ordinary Silca Pista. I don't have any Schrader valves, and don't forsee any in the future. What say ye, Paceline?

And is the Hiro really worth it? For a Silca Pista? I don't see the value.

I would if Silca didn't make it.

My Bontrager Super Charger pump is all metal, has replaceable parts if needed. Mine is going on 5 years old with zero issues.

Thanks for the reminder to report back. I like this pump. Nice lock on the head and hose has a bleed valve so you can over inflate and then dial it down. Light and simultaneously sturdy. Gauge is easy to read. I feel like I am moving a good amount of air with each stroke, unlike the lezyne alloy floor drive I sold off.

The Lezyne Pressure Overdrive is the best pump I've used so far.. easy to use, has a tank for tubeless.

I have a Joe Blow that I have owned for over 25 (maybe 30 years) and it is still working fine. Granted I don't used it everyday but it never failed me.

The only thing I expect it to break is the handle. Not sure when that will break as it starts to get flexy.

I have a pair of Blackburn FPS-2 floor pumps I've had since 1995 or so, so they are about 25 years old. I got them in lieu of the then standard Silca pump (mine broke when I was chopping ice on the race course with it, seriously). I still have them.

They pump fast enough, seal well, and don't wear out.

The hoses fail at the base every now and then but since everything is tool free, I snip about an inch off, reattach everything (hand tighten a plastic nut thing) and it's good for another 10 years.

The base has a sharp edge that will gouge your car or frame.

Other than that they are dual sided so presta and Schrader. I've pumped up car and trailer tires as well as wheel barrow, hand cart, kids bikes, and of course my own bikes' tires.

At my local bike co-op the Joe Blows fare better than any of the other pumps under very heavy use. Others break, but the only thing the Joe Blows need is a new gasket every once in a while.

I also have a metal Bontrager at home and that's been great too.

I bought a trio of Bontragers to replace the Blackburns. After using them for a year or so I gave them all away. The old Blackburns work much better on finicky presta valves. I think I broke 6 or more valves using the Bontragers, and had to replace the gasket on one. It was very frustrating. I even bought 20 gasket kits because I figured I'd keep the pumps for 15-20, I mean 5-8 years.

As far as "controls" go, I basically used the same valves before and after my failed pump experiment. I am still digging into inner tubes I bought 10-15 years ago (last big batch purchase was 2011, 20 or 30 tubes). My tubulars share similar vintage, all same model and most recently bought about 5 years ago (typically buy 4-8 at a time), and all use valve extenders that I got about 25 years ago. So it's not like I was using weird valves for a bit.

I appreciate all the replies here!
My Topeak Joe Blow Sport has been great up until a couple of weeks ago. I can only attribute this to a new (used) bike with tires max PSI of 140. My other bikes are like 100 or 65 PSI. The check valve seems to be the culprit and I have a new one on the way. I see some of the pumps mentioned in this thread have max PSI of 220, so if this fix doesn't last long, I may upgrade. That being said, the Joe Blow has lasted a very long time.

I will never have any other pump. If/when I have ever had an issue, I call support tell them whats going on and poof - a new pump just shows up.

Another for Specialized. I’ve had mine for about 10 years and it’s been perfect.
