Tanaka Fillet Brazed Light Touring

This one sat in the wings for a while, but I am finally starting to dial it in. I am embarrassed to say I have never built up a bike like this with a pure focus on errand running/practicality and it's been a real delight. It has become the new go-to for commuting and pleasure rides. A Tubus Logo Evo rear rack and some pannier + a tunk bag are incoming to round it out, but in the meantime, it gets the job done.

For those unfamiliar, Kimo Tanaka was a builder in CA who did mostly fillet brazed frames. I actually chatted with him on the FB Framebuilers group and he said this one was built in the late 80's/early 90's.

That's a good looking bike right there.
What brakes and tires did you manage to fit?

The brakes are Tektro R539 and the tires are Soma Supple Vitesse 33c (though they measure just a hair smaller). Still plenty of clearance for fenders which I'll likely throw on this fall

this looks great! that subtle blue fade is really nice, and the frameset seems to have some really well thought out details. post more pics of it!

Daaaang, that's pretty. I'm a sucker for a good fillet brazed frame as is, but the build kit is also A+ (except what's going on with the headset?).

Thanks for sharing!

Woah - another Tanaka / Innerlight. I posted my fixed gear Innerlight a couple months ago - this is only other one that I've seen! Love it
