Alonso learned the lesson Fittipaldi did at Indy in 94...stay off the inside strip at 220 plus. Glad he is ok . want him back in a good f1 car.

Looks like the increased qualifying boost has more than made up for the aeroscreen. 20 cars have no-tow laps over 230 mph today. Marco going into T1 and T3 just a tick under 240 mph.

Andretti cars continue to be fast. They've had such a bad early season that its good to see, although I get the backlash against the big 3.

All the Andretti cars appear to pretty well dialed in. R H-R had the fastest no-tow lap of the day, Marco had the fastest lap overall, and all seven cars were in the top 15 of fastest laps on Friday.

Nice to see Spencer Pigot with the 5th fastest lap, but guessing it was done with a tow. The RLL cars seem to be about even with Ganassi, but a bit shy of the Andretti cars. All three Rahal drivers tend to race above their qualifying spots, so I'd expect them to be in the mix on race day even if they qualify mid-field.

Daly has been impressive as usual, also has a great livery that's a tribute to the Bell X-1 rocket plane. The Chevrolet teams look to be at a disadvantage but Daly has been near the top of every session. 2nd in the Chevy camp is Will Power, no surprise there. Charlie Kimball had the third fastest Chevrolet lap today, and he's been a contender in previous races this year. He has 2 top five finishes, and 4 top tens in his 9 previous Indy 500 starts. A dark horse to win for sure, but someone I will be pulling for.

Rahal draws first spot in qualifying order, Sato 2nd, and Pigot 7th. That's a huge opportunity for the RLL team going out before the track gets hot. That said, I'd rather be going 7th than first.
