A MTB made by either soulcraft or 44.

"2-3" made me laugh. I think more realistic is that $6K is your lifetime budget for the Sisyphean task of finding the perfect fit, endlessly buying and selling in that quest…

I'm teetering on the brink of a mountain bike, but there's no way I'd spend 6K on it even if it were game-show winnings or like that. But I find myself in the weird place, right now, of having just about everything I want in the bike world... which is contributed to by my having very little time to ride.
But, I have to inquire of the OP: why do you ask? Have we had a little windfall, h'mmm? And we're fishing for ideas how to spend it? |

Another Ti frame maybe ? I was thinking for your BMC SLR01 but was unsure, I hear they are great and was hoping to get your ride report. I'm with you on building up a bike instead of buying new unless you came across a steal. |

Be patient - you'll know it when you see it...

I'd contact Ulrich Vogel and get the ball rolling on a 650b frame. Or I'd call Steve Hampsten and get a Ti Strada Bianca.
Or I'd start searching for a Galmozzi or Hetchins. There's a part of me that certainly agrees with that second statement. But my choice would be a used Ducati 999.

Came in to post ^^^this!
(I had to check his website to confirm you could do it all-in for $6k. I guess it's feasible: $4500 for the Ti Spaceframe with Ti Trussfork. But I have no idea what MTB components cost these days.) Last edited by Bob Ross; 11-17-2017 at 03:04 PM. |

But I think it's sneaking a little higher as I justify the need for a bling roadie, a cross/gravel/commuter, and a 29er - might be out to $10K once all those itches are scratched, and then we'll play around with relative investments among the three accounts - some sort of auto-balancing maybe? |
