3. Lars and the Real Girl. Weird and funny.
4. The Fast Runner. Cool arctic film.
5. City of God. Amazing Brazilian film.

Just searched it and it's still not on DVD but is streaming on Netflix.

Yep, both are good but My Life is one of my favorites. I remember I went on a first date with a girl to see it (she picked it). I tried my best to not weep like a baby during the flick.

Here are a couple others:

Skin Deep with John Ritter. Very funny, the glow in the dark rubber scene is hilarious. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098343/

Clean and Sober with Michel Keaton. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094884/

Very similar story...except I was not successful on holding back the tears. I imagine as a new(er) dad, I would be even less successful now.

Oh, hell yes! With James Spader, Holly Hunter, Elias Koteas, Rosanna Arquette...that was a David Kronenberg film right? Really cool film...in a really perverse way.

Sandler's Best. Role. Ever. I'd completely discount him as a no-talent hack were it not for his performance in this movie...but holy crap, he blows this one out of the water. I love this movie.

Unless you're a diehard sci fi fan you probably haven't heard of these:

Logan's Run. Very unsettling in its theme like Soylent Green.

Forbidden Planet (1956, I think). Great premise and cast. Walter Pidegon, Leslie Nielson, Ann Francis, Earl Holloman, Jack Kelly and last, but not least, Robbie the Robot of Lost in Space fame.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. This thread is great in bringing movies back to memory that you may have forgot about.

"Pitch Black" - probably Vin Diesel's best role....low budget sci-fi done well.

Too bad they went big budget on the sequel and ruined it.....

Y Tu Mama Tambien - mexican coming of age road trip flick

Titus - stylish adaptation of Titus Andronicus, the first tragedy by Shakespeare, meant to please the howling plebs who went to see his shows. It's as if Shakespeare collaborated with Tarantino and took inspiration from The Cook, Thief, Wife, and Lover. Anthony Hopkins plays Titus...

Another overlooked classic which sometimes shows up on TCM, A Face in the Crowd. Elia Kazan directed it and Andy Griffith is exceptional in his first role.

+1

The "Lonesome Rhodes" character was inspired by Arthur Godfrey
