An older, but rather good tip for your Garmin (via DC Rainmaker)
Glad I could help.

Can you undo it if you sell unit!

You can change it at any time, so undo is easy.
I suggest using the lanyard that comes with the unit. Dropping one of these is a pain. |

Did this a long time ago, have not had the need to test its effectiveness.
Speaking of putting identifying markers on one's stuff, I created a QR code decal for my bike...and my phone...and my computer...and lots of other stuff. Hit that QR code and it brings up a webpage with a photo and contact information. It also has my name and phone number on it, but for some applications, like the seat tube on my bike, I just use the QR code portion of the decal.

Thanks for the reminder.. I had done this on my old Garmin, but last year I had to get a new one and have not done it.
I will say, the X30/XX30 and X40/XX40 ones seem to have a locator function like Apple devices. I get notifications on my phone if I leave my Edge 1030 somewhere that tells me its GPS location. Kind of neat, but like the Apple "Find My" it has a lot of false positives where it thinks you lost your device but you didn't. |

Yes, have a message like that on my 1030. As well as a reminder "Ride like a Belgian!" during the startup sequence.
