Stumped on correct BB tool for FSA T47 bb

I'm building up a Trek Crockett with a T47 bb shell. I bought an FSA T47 bottom bracket. Now I can't seem to find the correct bb tool.

I tried the Wheels Manufacturing 48mm/16 notch, then the ParkTool TOOL Park BBT-47-16, it's too big.

Who can tell me what I need (and why isn't this a simple internet search?)?

My #1 rule of bike maintenance is don't go anywhere near FSA cranks or bottom brackets, because they're always some oddball size, their tech documentation is terrible, and they're not even internally consistent.

If it's not too late, return the bottom bracket, replacing the crank too if necessary to purge yourself of all FSA.

agree. i just looked at this product on the FSA web page out of curiosity, and they make no mention of the tool needed. That seems pretty poor of them.

If you are dead set on using it, try counting the dimples, that might lead you in the direction of the correct tool.

Just to confirm, both the cups are 16 notch?

I would check out the wolf tooth or abbey bike tools website. Both companies have a chart of BB cup tools and what they fit.

Abbeybiketools... BB sockets. If you click the pictures it shows a chart of all of their tools and common fits.

You will want to measure outside cup diameter, notch diameter and number of teeth.for your bottom bracket.

Thanks. Even those sites do not offer a clear answer. Seems I’ll be returning the FSA & getting a Praxis - which sells the tool along with the bb. Still annoying to add yet another bb standard to the mix, but excited about the bike.

It looks like you are moving on, but just in case someone else has the same question...

Both ChatGPT and MS Copilot state that Park's BBT-27.3 should work.
As with everything AI, it doesn't mean this 100% accurate
