Steve Roberts: Computing Across America
I thought this story of Steve Roberts and the 17,000 miles he pedaled around the United States on three increasingly fascinating computerized bicycles in the 1980s and '90s would be of interest to some folks here. He was among the first "digital nomads," working from the saddle as a freelance author using an early version of the internet. The third version of his bike weighed a whopping 580 pounds. Pretty wild stuff!

I saw something he posted not that long ago, but I forget where.
I remember hearing about him in Byte. |

Oh man, I remember him!
There was an article in one of the mags (maybe "Bicycling" but can't remember) that had the pic below (or a similar one) and it blew my mind because I was into computers and bikes and finding out that there were other nerds like me out there was so eye-opening! Thanks for posting! |

When people call me a bike nerd (and they will), I will direct them here.
Nice fender line, btw. OK I’m a nerd too. |
